Rapid access to customer info at point of sale is an essential component for many retailers.

Tying customer data with each sale brings numerous benefits including management of customer returns, detailed buying history (for enhanced customer service) and an invaluable warehouse of market information. These benefits are maximized by ensuring customer info can be accessed with the fewest possible keystrokes.

One of three conditions will result from entering customer search data - exact match, partial match, or no match. Retail Pro's sophisticated customer lookup smoothly handles each of these conditions and guides the sales associate to the next step.

Version 8 lets the user predefine a sequence of index fields in which to search for a match.

Partial Match - When entering the first few characters of a last name Retail Pro can detect a partial match and display a user designed customer listing starting with the first possible record. All relevant fields are shown so that the associate can easily and accurately chose the correct identity.

Exact Match - When using a customer ID number (such as scanning a membership card) or other unique identifier the precise customer record is instantly accessed without any further keystrokes.

No Match - Pressing F3 provides the sales associate with a list of alternative look up choices. These alternatives extend the search capabilities to virtually any key field within the customer record.

Multiple Searches - Version 8 enables the user to predefine a sequence of fields in which to search for a match.

For example: One could set up the system to check Last Name, Phone Number, and then Company Name.

Regardless of whether the sales associate began typing a last name, a phone number, or a company name, the system would scan each of these fields to find a match and display it.

Part of the customer record can be a designated tax area or price level, such as when a nonprofit group is charged no tax, or an employee makes a purchase. These fields functionally affect price or tax.

If desired, the customer image can be displayed on the receipt to help customer recognition and prevent check and credit card fraud, as well as other uses.
